STEM FOUNDATION
About Us
Our foundation is established to help promote STEM education in Nigeria as a vehicle for empowerment and rapid economic growth and national development. We consider women as the most vulnerable in any family arrangement irrespective of religion and ethnicity, therefore it is our desire to assist the girl child through STEM education so that we can help to prepare them for the future challengers.
WORDS FROM THE CHAIRPERSON
In a Family setting and in the society at large, irrespective of religion, culture or ethnicity, women and children constitute the venerable group. Even in a happy marriage, the woman is expected to contribute economically to the family, especially when it comes to education and other needs of the children. At the same time, she is expected to discharge her biological obligations of having to carry a baby for 9 months, breastfeed and raise the child in addition to routine home chores. Sometimes, she performs all these tasks in an unpleasant matrimonial arrangement, full of crisis and scandals. When the marriage breaks or if she loses the husband, she will still be left to cater for herself and the children.
It is against this backdrop that our foundation initiated the “STEM for all Girl Child Programme.” The aim is to save the future woman who is today’s girl child by encouraging her to venture into more lucrative careers such as Engineering, Robotics, Medicine etc. that are perceived as the exclusive monopoly of men.
We have so far trained more than 150 girls on Coding, Computer repairs and maintenance, Basic office packages and Robotics while a number of women in STEM have been invited to deliver lectures that will motivate the participants.
