How we Started
Rafbonee Stem Child Care was established on the 2nd of October, 2014 with only one child Muhseen Mamu Muhammad, who is today among the pre-school Graduands. Presently, the School has significantly expanded to 60 students, 10 classrooms, one activity room, a creche section, library and an office accommodation while plans for a sick bay and kid’s saloon is underway. We also have eight teaching staff, five nannies, one chef and three care givers
As we graduate our four pioneer kids today, by next year, God willing we would be graduating 10 kids and a year after that, 25 kids or even more. The management is satisfied and happy with this astronomical growth in student population and high rate of students’ retention index which stands at 95 percent. I must therefore commend the management and staff of SCC for their dedication, hard work and commitment to our collective goals and ideals.
I would like to further assure you that we will remain resolute and committed to the provision of quality and world class educational standards at an affordable rate while at the same time upholding high moral and ethical standards in the conduct of our affairs.
We are not unaware that this regeneration of kids are technologically savvy. Being born, bread and educated in a world and time driven by technology, we must therefore, commit ourselves to laying a solid foundation for them and exposing them early enough to the opportunities embedded in science and technology. This foundation must start at the pre-school level.
At Stem Child Care, we understand that the challenges of their time would definitely be more complex and enormous than ours. Therefore, the opportunities provided by this school are aimed at preparing students to succeed in a highly competitive and entrepreneurial future. Here, we challenge them to start thinking of how to invent and solve human problems rather than an old age notion of being educated to get a good job. Today, those jobs are not there and who knows tomorrow it may get worst.
The STEM component of our curriculum is the most unique and distinguished element of our school, we are quick to realise that teaching of science and technology must start at toddler years if at all we want our kids to be globally competitive. We intend to use NGSS (Next generation science standards) that will help set the expectations of what the students should know and be able to do, NGSS will also help set research base science standards that will stimulate kids interest in science and technology.
In addition, our system also ensures that kids learn at least one international language in addition to English. The teaching of Arabic language commenced about two years ago and it is heart- warming to note that the pioneer students at the moment speak good Arabic while efforts to start French language are also at the final phase.
From September this year, the school would commence its primary school section and we intend to use a mix blend of Britain, American and Nigerian curriculum and we are also looking in the direction of offering primary school Cambridge courses in collaboration with Cambridge University.
The STEM component of the primary school would be strengthened to expose the kids to age-appropriate software developments, electronic and locomotive components, robotics, lab science, human and animal anatomy etc.
Our open day takes place between 30th July 2018 and 8th September 2018. Members of the general public can take full advantage of these dates to book for a tour to see our school facilities and instructional materials.
Finally, it’s my singular honour to place on record our sincere appreciation to all parents and guardians for trusting us with the care and education of your child. Educating and giving care to these kids is a duty and passion we pledge to undertake with all the commitment and seriousness it deserves.
Thank you and God bless.
